Act I

The roots of a dream

Viña Casa Acosta was born from the dream of Nelson Acosta, a renowned figure in South American football who, arriving from his native Uruguay, put down roots in the small rural village of Estación Francia, in the Cachapoal Valley. There he worked as a hunter and telegraph operator, among other trades. The name of his village evoked that distant European country he would reach in 1998 as head coach of the Chilean national team — the same year that, having bought this land shortly before travelling to the World Cup in France, he planted the first vines.

Act II

A warm welcome

Sheep, goats, rabbits, geese and ostriches greet you on arrival: the atmosphere is familial in every sense, and every detail has a story to tell. Giant ombú trees echo the distant Uruguayan plains where this dream was born. The entire process is done by hand — maceration, fermentation, draining, pressing, filtering and bottling — on the estate itself, where every bond is person to person. From the 1,200 bottles of the first vintage in 2003, today we craft 7,300 a year.

Act III

A legacy in three labels

Today, thanks to his son Damián Acosta, that dream has flowered into an artisanal craft made at human scale. «Ombú» — the strong, surface-rooted tree common in Uruguay and in the plazas of central Chile — is our first line, our way of saying that everything grows from deep roots. Soon comes the second, the Gran Reserva «Estación Francia», and the story will be completed by the Icon series «Nelson Acosta»: a definitive tribute to our founder.
